I am a one-person organisation, and I’m committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of every visitor to my website and subscribers to my newsletter. Here, you’ll find information on how I treat the data that I collect from visitors to my website, or when someone subscribes to my newsletter.
When someone visits www.jennifercolquhoun.com I use Google Analytics to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. I do this to find out things like the number of visitors to the various parts of my site, and what products get the most clicks, so I can ascertain their popularity. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. I do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting my website. You can find more information on how cookies are used on this website in the cookies section below.
If I do need to collect any personally identifiable information through my website (like your email address for keeping you informed of any orders being shipped, or your physical address for shipping said order), I will be up front about this. I will make it clear when I collect personal information and will explain what I intend to do with it, or why you need to supply it.
What are cookies?
How are cookies managed?
The cookies stored on your computer or other device when you access our websites are designed by:
- Other organisations (like Google for Google Analytics, see above) who help me to find out how many visitors use my site and which pages are most popular, so I can create the content most valuable to you.
You can set your browser to not accept cookies, but this may limit your ability to use the Services. To opt out, you just need to dismiss the Cookie banner that will pop up as soon as you land on my website. Pressing 'Continue' means you give my website and website providers (mentioned above) permission to place Cookies on your computer.
If you sign up to my regular e-newsletter, either when making a purchase through my online shop or on another page of this website, I will collect personal information as part of the registration process. I use that information: to tell you about the subjects you signed up for (like new products, blog posts or events you can find me at); to contact you if I need to obtain or provide additional information (like to let you know I’ve shipped your order or if there are any reasons your order might be delayed); to check my records are right and to check every now and then that you’re happy and satisfied. I don't rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses.
I use MailChimp to deliver my newsletters. I gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help me monitor and improve my e-newsletter. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time of the day or night by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of my newsletters or by emailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I'll make sure your unsubscribed as soon as possible, your information will be removed from my Mailchimp list and you'll stop receiving my newsletters.
Data Obtained When You Purchase
When you purchase a product (or products), workshop, gift voucher(s) through my online shop, your name, address data, email and contact number will be stored in my ecommerce system, which is provided by Squarespace. I keep this data to allow me to process and ship your order. The data you provide when purchasing will also be stored physically in a secure location for my tax records, which I am required by law to keep for at least seven years.
Credit or debit card information is encrypted. My website uses Stripe to process your payment.
You may, of course, purchase items in person without supplying the aforementioned personal data. I pop up at regular markets in Scotland throughout the year, and take part in Open Studios events in Edinburgh and Aberdeenshire. You’ll be able to find details of the next event on my website, or by following me on Instagram.
Please be assured that I do not share your personal details with any other company without your explicit consent.
Access to Your Personal Information
You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that I hold. Email your request to me (who’s also my data protection officer, because I’m a one-person business), Jennifer Colquhoun at email@example.com.
