Nessie takes shape
The research won't stop, don't worry. But it is time to start roughing out some Nessie shapes.
My first Nessie outline takes inspiration from THAT photo. I know, I keep saying the Surgeon's photo was a hoax and a plesiosaur couldn't get it's neck into that position anyway, but it's so iconic, so that's where I started. I tried to go with the idea that Nessie's whole body would be upright, more like what a seal might do (or a mermaid), so it wouldn't be such a bend in the neck. It's a classic shape anyway.
Nessie shape two takes bigger influence from an elasmosaur, and would allow for the three-hump interpretation. Also it takes the Pictish descriptions (more like a water serpent) into consideration.
Whilst I quite like the long tail... I'm not sold on this outline. Or the first one, really. Back to the drawing board.
